          National pension scheme ( NPS ) is a Government  approved Market linked pension scheme for Indian Citizens of age between 18 to 60 years and one of the most Economical and least focused scheme where you can invest for you retirement and can enjoy additional tax saving during period of investment. NPS investment is covered under 80CCD (1B) which is over and above the upper investment limit of 1,50,000. The minimum yearly you can invest is 6000.00 or monthly minimum 500.00.  
Under NPS scheme you can open two types of account Tire-I & Tire-II 
1) Tire-I 
            It is a basic NPS account with limitations on withdrawal. Before attaining 60 years of age only 25% contribution can be withdrawn that is also tax free. 

2) Tire-II
            It is a voluntary saving option without limit on withdrawal. But subscriber must have one active Tire-I account.

            NPS offer different investment options, Investor can switch from one option to another option depends upon return of the option. It is similar to ULIP plans available in market. There is a limit on equity investment only 50% is allowed in equity. 
            NPS also offer different Pension Fund managers and choice to switch from one fund manager to another fund manager. 

The different fund managers available are namely -
  1. ICICI Prudential Pension Fund Management Co. Ltd.
  2. HDFC Pension Management Co. Ltd.
  3. Kotak Mahindra Pension Fund Ltd.
  4. LIC Pension Fund Ltd.
  5. Reliance Capital Pension Fund Ltd.
  6. SBI Pension Funds Pvt. Ltd
  7. UTI Retirement Solutions Ltd
  8. Pension Fund (PF) to be incorporated by Birla Sunlife Insurance Co. Ltd
